English Language Challenges

Imagen
This English subject was very different from the previous ones. Despite the online modality, it was a very welcoming course. It was very comfortable to participate and the way it was taught seemed that the language was not so difficult. It was fun to write posts on different topics on the blog. In fact, some topics made me dwell on some aspects that I had not paid much attention to but that I do care about. On the other hand, I feel that I still need to improve the pronunciation. Since it is the least practical. But in the future, I would like to continue learning the language more and be able to speak fluently. Although I currently use very little language, I hope in the future to be able to familiarize myself more with it. For academic issues and being able to travel calmly in many places of the world.

Changes to my Study Program

Imagen
As I said in the previous posts, I am now studying the last semester of the career. So, at this moment I can say that several things were missing that I would have liked to have been better reinforced. For example, the subject of statistics. I remember when I took it, I only worried about approving it and now I must constantly review it. On the other hand, the forestry career has a lot of work in the field, which is very much appreciated. But it lacks a more practical part that is best associated with our future work. For example, in the development of management plans or in the work of forest engineers in urban woodlands. Laboratory work usually teaches and uses latest instrument technology from each area. But in other subjects, such as biometrics, for example, which currently exist apps for smartphones, it is not taught or mentioned. So, in that area, it could be improved. Well, as in most cases, there are teachers who have very efficient teaching methods and others who still u

Time Travel to the Future

Imagen
Considering a time travel to the future is not an idea that always comes to mind. Especially because at this time of my life I am very focused on finishing my career. Obviously, there are many things I would like to do in the not too distant future, such as starting to work on what I am studying, live alone and traveling around the world. But these are only goals to be achieved. In addition, I prefer to concentrate and energize the things I can do in the present, so that I can get a little closer to those goals. But if I put myself in a specific future, like in 30 or 40 more years. I would like to see the world not as destroyed as it seems it will be. That the effects of climate change are not so devastating. And that the measures that are being taken today to mitigate climate change have served some purpose. May it be a world where people live with dignity and enjoy the benefits of nature. I don't feel very safe answering if I would like to stay at that future time. Because, a

My Future Job

Imagen
I always imagined myself working on something that would allow me to move from one place to another, know new place and meet new people; in fact, that’s one of the reasons why I chose to study Forestry. I couldn’t spend all day and every day in an office, I would get bored. Throughout my studies I have realized that it does have a lot of field visit. Thanks to the career I have known many beautiful places in this country. I like to heve my hands on the ground in the middle of a forest only surrounded by nature. Currently I am in last year of the university and I really want to start working. The truth is that I don’t have well defined what I want to work on, but no matter what I want to practice my profession. I don’t care if I must go to work in Arica or Punta Arenas, I go anywhere. What I do care about is feeling that I am a contribution in what I am working on and obviously traveling a lot.

A person I would like to meet

Vandana Shiva is PhD in physical sciences, philosopher, writer, and ecofeminist activist. That struggles against neoliberalism and defends the rights of peoples with an unconditional commitment to women and the earth. She describes the Earth as an entity that is part of the individual, and from this relationship proposes she proposes to face issues such as climate change, social inequality, injustice, wars, and hunger. Vandana Shiva is 68 years old, she is daughter of a park ranger and a farmer. When she was 21 years old, she participated in a social movement that sought to protect the Himalaya Forest with nonviolent resistance (embracing trees). What I admire most about this woman is her conviction and her strength to fight for a better world for all. And above all, her ecofeminist vision to address problems that have been happening from a patriarchal system and that now is the time to do something different to have different results. Shiva has written some books that highli

My Favorite Children Program

Imagen
¡Hi everybody! Today I talk about my favorite children program. I remember that I liked is “31 minutos”. Every time they broadcast a new chapter; I saw it with my cousin. 31 minutos is a program very entertaining, simulate some news with puppets making an ironic imitation of Chilean television. The principal character is Tulio Triviño, the show´s presenter. He is an egoistic and egocentric character. But the other characters are very nice. For example, Juanín, he is very loving and helpful. And Juan Carlos Bodoque, a reporter who makes the best environmental reports. Where he explains real situations that happen in Chile in clear and simple way. Those reports were the part I liked most about the program. But it is also important to remember the ranking of songs each week, those songs were very fun and catchy.  Today, you can find some chapters on Netflix.

The Best Concert

Imagen
In this post I’m going to tell you about the best concert I’ve ever been to. I haven´t been many concerts, but there is one I will never forget, it was amazing. The best concert I remember is a summer 2018 concert in Pichilemu, the Surfing Capital. In that concert several music artists of reggae, hip hop, cumbia, and urban music participated. It lasted all afternoon and there were food stalls and stalls of environmental organizations. But the music group that stood out the most was Cultura Profética. It was beautiful, the stage was near the beach and just at sunset time. That day I went with my best friend who is also a fan of this music group. Cultura Profética is a group music of reggae from Puerto Rico that began to sound in 1996. Their music is very melodic and nice. Since I was 15 years old I listen to music. it helps me a lot to study and relax. If Cultura Profética did a concert in Chile again, I would not hesitate to go see them again.
